Simon joined Spectrum in March 2018. In his role, he is often talking to and interacting with workers. Safety and health can be a very personal thing. Allowing people to discuss their experience can help fill gaps in knowledge or the delivery of programs.
With how complex compliance is and the pace of regulatory change, it puts enormous pressure on business systems to be adaptable. Simon enjoys finding solutions that are practical, achievable and economic to allow him to think outside of the box.
Previously, he used to administer safety and training in a management role and formally studied occupational health and safety when he switched careers to work in exploration drilling, and later to the the construction and mining industry.
Simon is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces Ranger Patrol Group and is a regional coordinator for Team Rubicon Emergency and Disaster Response Group. He also holds numerous other industry related certifications including the National Certificate in Rural Resource Management, Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, AFPA Auditor, BCFSC Auditor, and many more.
